why bother?
seriously?

According to the radio, these people don't ever want to go home! Another midnight marathon. Besides, we thought Barnard wanted to be chairman. At least that was the buzz...

Now this is scary. Tracy as chair...I can't even imagine the protocol breaches. Public office should not be a mockery; what an easy target.

as for hee hee har har...can you give it a break already. Go play guitar hero or rook. Honestly I can't tell if you're 14 or 74!

Anonymous said...

Keeping in the family?

Anonymous said...

So you erased a couple of comments.Lets not let people know Buddy is a fool.Surprise Buddy,Tracy is chairman!

As for another midnight marathon, the past board broke the record on waiting til morning to come out.Ray would send Randall,or Andy Anderson out to see if everyone went home, then they would come out and vote on raises for good ole David!
We have some leaches still trying to hang on to their positions in the system.Tim,Tracy,Karen,Rob and Dave,Or the Fraud Five.It is time to detroy the rest of the nest! Go Geraldine Rector, your letter was superb! Remember kill the Rats!

Being on the school board is largely a thankless task, and I, for one, appreciate these folks who obviously care about the students or they never would have run for the board to start with. I don't know all the board members personally, but I do know that Ms. Norman is a caring, committed individual who is student-centered in her actions. Who of us has not made some errors in trying to do the right thing? Be careful about casting stones.

Anonymous said...

to the last blogger. name 3 things she has done to better our school for the students. NAME just 3. i will be checking back.

Anonymous said...

Tracy Norman is a snake in the grass!!! She could care less about the children of Burke County - she and Tim have boldly stated they have one goal - getting rid of David Burleson. What a joke that Tracy is a caring individual - caring for Tim Buff maybe - she is so caring that she is not even a mother to her own children - yea she cares so much for children - tell her to take care of her own first!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

Three things she has done, Changed the demographics of the schoolboard, busted up the good ole boys system, made administration work harder to cover up their tracks and lies.
She has done things I disagree with, but overall she is for the common person. This upsets uptown Morganton and downtown Valdese because the political society whores are used to having an inside track in to the establishment.Tracy probably will get beat in 09 because they all will work towards her demise but before she goes,I hope she takes a few with her.Mainly David C. Burleson. If Rick Sherrill could take over it would be a Black Day for the Good Ole Boys once and for all.Thank Goodness, Rob Hairfield was like a pitbull who would not turn loose of the idea of getting him back. This Board is not perfect but I think the county as a whole is represented by this board. To the Board, you are accused of being cruel and mean by many who are scared you will find them out.I say you have not been mean enough! I do however appreciate the job you do!

Anonymous said...

Im tired of people saying if your against David Burleson you hate children and are against education.Maybe,we just think his ship has sailed and it is time for another captain. I belive many of you want the system to implode or disband if David or the board you want to see does not control things. Look democracy spoke in November 07 and that faction of the board has control until November 11 deal with it!

Ref: "So you erased a couple of comments.Lets not let people know Buddy is a fool.Surprise Buddy,Tracy is chairman!"

How is he a fool? He voted against her and her boss, didn't he? That's smart in my book. If he's a fool for standing against those two, he's this county's kind of fool.

We all know that Timmy and Friends have placed Miss Thang on this pedestal to help her get re-elected. With Geraldine Rector in her corner, we all know Tracy will go far. Not.

Anonymous said...

Why dont you erase the hee har comments since what I put on hear is offensive to you Mr.Armour?
No one said anything about how you voted on chairman. All that was said is that there was a surprise coming and that was it.You keep erasing comments because you only want people to think your way,not have their own ideas. Tracy will not get far,may be correct, but I know Buddy is gone and if they run plugs like Nancy Taylor or Caroline Avery then they may be in trouble ousting tracy. You better put someone who embraces the whole county and not a small upset faction who are finally getting back what they have sown. Im sure you will erase this as well.

Anonymous said...

Has Scott Smith taught Buddy how to maintain the Blog?
Dr.Angie Blaylock presented the board with an in depth four year technology plan for Bcps.It is unreal how bad technology was at some of our elementary schools. Mountain View had probably the worst in the system.Run down computers and the whole shebang. What did Scott Smith do in that amount of time? He is not missed and good riddance. Buddy you can be upset your boy is not hear to read other board members and employees emails to you if you want. Im sure you will erase this, you dont have what it takes to leave it on hear.I will keep blogging and I will write in the paper and you will never know who it is.

Anonymous said...

REF: 'I put on hear'

THAT'S WHY YOU PEOPLE GET NO RESPECT.

HEAR ? TRY 'HERE'.

Anonymous said...

Well, we know 6:51 and 6:57 are the same boob. He doesn't know how to use "here" nor "hear".

And he's in charge of this county's education?

Anonymous said...

REF: Why dont you erase the hee har comments since what I put on hear is offensive to you Mr.Armour?
No one said anything about how you voted on chairman. All that was said is that there was a surprise coming and that was it.

Hold on, Jackass. The radio and the newspaper both said how board members voted on the so-called election. Are you not in tune with the media? But I'll take the compliment and accept the comparison. Just as you say you don't agree/vote with Tracy all the time, I don't always agree with your nemesis. But he sure as hell represents me better than your Chairman.

Anonymous said...

to the answer of three things tracy has done ( above the lastest hee hee har har idiot) you named three things she HAS NOT DONE to help the students. You named poliical agenda stuff - not helping our county. see - i knew you couldnt answer this nor can anyone else. tracy is a sorry ass excuse of a person, leader, mom, educator, and christian!

Anonymous said...

Buddy, you do not know who I am,and because its christmas and I actually have compassion for you and your family at a tough time when you lost your job,I will make no comments about you til the new year. Most of my problem with you is your hypocrisy. Merry Christmas!

Anonymous said...

Is mr. Oliver really leaving Freedom?

Anonymous said...

Yes he is being deployed.I thank him for his service, but thank goodness freedom gets a new principal.

Anonymous said...

Buddy,
Long time supporter here. My mom and you went to school together and you refer to me by her maiden name. I agree with you as well does the rest of my family ( some whom are well known educators in this county)
Anyways, I feel tracy and Tim both should be removed from the board. Hell lets make you chair.
I hate seeing what has come of our school system. If all members aren't present for a vote, in my opinion, YOU SHOULDN"T vote. Buddy Keep standing up for what you believe. You got my family on your side. You have been Involved in politics since highschool, You have more of a leg to stand on than most of the people on the board. If i wasn't so young, I would try and get on the board. Merry Christmas.

Anonymous said...

Can you imagine all the fun the crowds will have with Tracy at the helm? All you have to do is ask her a question and gets loud and her blood pressure goes sky high. I predict she will have a heart attack at one of the metting next year.

Did karen brittain sain braittain sain karen speak at the last meeting. I think she need to make an appointment with a speech therapist.

Anonymous said...

You people need to get a life.
Ya'll SUCK.

Anonymous said...

Buddy quit blogging to yourself, you were a piss poor chairman as was Tracy. David Barnard should have called in his vote like bill simmons did when in Germany for the names of the high schools. Legally no matter what tactics is used if a quorum is there a vote may be taken end story.I hate people who have no frigging clue about parlimentary procedure. Caroline Avery and her crowd need to learn it. Am I happy about Tracy being chairman? No I wish Rob,or David Barnard would have gotten it.For you dummy's all boards can vote on a chair in december. Sam Wilkinson would have been okay, but he and Buddy would have set the agenda and not done some things that must be done in the next three months.

Anonymous said...

as for 12/18 6:59 I am a FHS graduate class of 2004 AND I SUPPORT BUDDY AND I WAS THE ONE WHO LEFT THE MES. ON HERE, SO SOCK IT

Anonymous said...

Thanks Eric we know its you. How is Chapel Hill?Long trip to come speak at the board meeting.Uncle Buddy was glad to see you.

Who will be the new principal at Freedom High School?

I can tell you who it will not be, rumors are swirling that it could be Dan Dehart,Bob Brown and here is one from left field Trossie Wall.
There is no way any of those jokes have a shot at it, and a lot of people in the community would burn down central office if the board allowed this.I think someone from outside needs to come in and take over the helm. Will David Burleson allow someone decent to come in?It may overshadow what he did at Freedom if they hire someone with some leadership skills.

Anonymous said...

So if Mr. Oliver does not have adequate leadership skills, why was he selected by the United States government and military leaders to be a Colonel in the Marine Corps?

Anonymous said...

In reference to 2:48. He may be excellent in the Marines, and we are thankful for his service, but if you believe he ran Freedom good then you need your head examined.Although he was better than Danny boy,he was not as effecient as we thought. Maybe he was held back from the old board or good ole boys club.I know a lawyer in this town who has a highly educated wife who thinks Dehart and Oliver were poor excuses for principals. There even an educated person thought they sucked and guess what she thinks about the top administrator? She hasnt been real pleased with this board, but says she will vote for Mr.Hairfield next time he ran,or whoever he suggests for 09 seats because he pushed Brackett out the door.Enough said!

Is Freedom going to be getting a new football coach??? I have been hearing alot of rumors.

Jason Watson has resigned as Head Football coach at Freedom. The way he was let go is unprofessional.Mr.Brian Oliver left him a voicemail on his phone telling him they were going to put the head coaching job out there, and he could re-apply.A crappy way of saying we dont want you no more. Now, he was never allowed to hire his own coaching staff and had a number 1 backstabber in the midst. His record was bad,but he should have been given one more year. Why would they let him go with Oliver leaving? Why the need for a football coach now? Are we going to give it to the one family who seems to get what they want in this system? I hope the administration would let a new principal make the decision as to who should coach.Freedom needs a principal from outside the system and a Football coach from outside the system. I belive David Burleson may have been behind this more than you realize. The board needs to send him a voicemail your services are no longer needed! Jason Watson was a fine man who deserved much better, and has more ethics than David Burleson, and Brian Oliver put together! David is failing as Superintendent, its time to make a move. Is anyone out there?

Anonymous said...

no.
nobody is out there.

&, nobody is in there either.

y'all have had your people on the school board for a while, with a majority now, but burleson is still in office.

what say ye now ???

Anonymous said...

Sounds like what Dr. Doby did to Rick Ogle severals years ago when he fired and Ogle didnt know it until he saw it in the paper. If you are going to open up the head coaching job atleast be honest enough to set up a meeting and talk to them.i hope Freedom goes after a proven coach and dont give it to the one who was known to stab him in the back just like he did the former coach at Freedom.I knew Jason and he was a great guy and didnt deserve this.

Anonymous said...

Time for David to go! I agree with you 8:51 am Our board needs to drain the moat once and for all.The biggest backstabbing and insubordination is going on by the highest paid employee in the system. Its time to take action! SOS is hurting in the majority of the people's eye. It is believed that Mrs. Caroline Avery in colusion with David Burleson through his daughter had many of the students come and speak about the banning of books two meetings ago. Mrs .Caroline Avery has two agenda's.One, save David Burleson's job,and keep the wealthy people in control. I think the SOS crowd should build them a elementary school, middle and high school. Then they can have their board and pay their Superintendent what they wish. David is a disease on this system.
Strong rumor has it that David is not passing his Doctorate classes at Appalachian State. He will be in trouble if he plans to be Superintendent somewhere else.He may be assistant but not the head man! David needs to resign and work on his advanced degree, then maybe he can lead a school system.I think he deserves another chance, but Burke County needs to move on!

Anonymous said...

Are people fired by voicemail now??? It is classless and disgusting how Watson was let go. This just shows been that Oliver is spineless and has no character at all.Thank God he is leaving.Neither him or the administration ever gave watson the support he needed.

Anonymous said...

Classless, just classless! Yes Brian Oliver terminated Jason Watson by phone.Telling him the job would be put out for applications. He was told by voicemail he could apply again.
They can not call you in and tell you your fired! Why does this administration act like cowards? Thank Goodness he is not coming back to Freedom!

Anonymous said...

No Class+ No Balls = Brian Oliver.

Anonymous said...

Calling an action classless by you people is just a little hypocritical, don't you think?

You connive and you scheme at the Tri-County Grill, Highland BBQ, the J & S Cafeteria, Allison's, Patton High School, and the Notorious Enola Road Fruit Stand and think that such conduct is just fine.

Give us a break.

Anonymous said...

I have never been to any of those places.I still think it was unprofessional to fire someone like that.

Dear BabyBear (or Gloria, if you prefer),
An orderly meeting must have guidelines (or 'rules') or the board members would never be able to leave the board room. No, I'm not an elected board member, but I think Tracy Norman is the bomb and can't wait to see what happens over the next year when she's the board's chairperson.Listening to over 2 hours of opinions on the evils of book banning (which the policy doesn't allow for) and not sheltering children was a waste of everyone's time, but they still had a right to get up and speak.Public comments have been limited to 5 minutes per speaker for as long as I can remember. Someone requested a presentation during the December meeting to refute the 20-25 minute presentation given in November, so the board amended the agenda to allow for that. Schoeberle could have asked for the same thing in December.

Now, we would not want to insult the Fisherman's intelligence by lowering him-I will assume masculinity-to Norman's level. Secondly, Mr. Fisherman, you refer to those who spoke at the meeting as a "team," but they were not organized in any formal manner. It was merely a large amount of people who were enraged by the intellectual travesty proposed.Thirdly, as I recall, perhaps five or six misinformed citizens railed about book banning, but the vast majority of speakers spoke to the literature's defense, and subsequent merit.

Copies of the following emails have been circulating:
Monday, Oct 20th, 10:35pm
"My seniors have been itching. At least once a week, they ask me when the next school board meeting will be and if it's time to 'mobilize' yet. They are ready to proceed with calling all of the parents of our Humanities students from 9th grade up to express the need for them to voice their concerns as their students are the ones most likely to be affected by this. ... Tim, I only had five seniors last year, and only two of them are still in this state. I think it would be apropos to not only mobilize our current students and our current parents to fight this but also the students who have recently been graduated and who are currrently in college and are reaping the rewards of what the Humanities program gave them. I know enough of them and have contact information on enough of them to spread the word for them to return home and speak to further pack the school board meeting, too, but you if you have access to their contact information, still, you could do that, too. Glenda has contacts going back three decades for Humanities; certainly, she'll call upon students she taught as well. ....I'm ready to 'cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war.' And so are my students and parents. It's time for them to 'come hot from hell' and perhaps quiet this. ....
John Zimmerman
Humanities English Teacher"

Rousseau, you're probably right. No team effort here - not a formal organizational effort at all. They were merely a large group of people who happened to watch the Oct board meeting, became enraged, and flocked upon the meeting (arriving early to ensure they had a seat). I'm buying that.

What has happened to Jason Watson makes me ashamed that I was once a football player and graduate of Freedom High School.I played for Freedom from 1999-2003 and Jason Watson was one of the coaches then.He was a man who had great character and new alot about the game of football. He also cared about how the kids were off the feild as well.I know he was also hoping for the day he got to be given a chance as a head coach. When he got the chance he never was supported at all by the administration or community.Never had a decent coaching staff at all besides maybe two or three. This is thanks he gets for his dedication to Freedom.I hope he gets a job somewhere and plays Freedom and beats the crap out of them.Brian Oliver dont let the door hit you on the way out.I thought DeHart was bad.I will no longer support Freedom High School because of this mess unless they do get a good football coach to come in and not that weisel who stabs people in the back named Scott Williams.they need to get some one like Coach Deal who is another man who has great character and disipline just like watson did.I dont think however it will clear the injustice done to Coach Watson. He dont not deserve this.Do us a favor Brian dont come back to morganton.

To blogger 9:13pm. I thought all board decisions went through the chain of command at Abele's? I was told by a few people that one person tells the School Board and Old County Commission what to do or else. If someone gets fired that is where the command comes from!

Anonymous said...

For the most part, you are correct. Many decisions are made at Abele's and the other eatin' joints listed by another blogger. All public board meetings are scripted and pre-planned by Tim and Tracy. Hairfield, who practically lives at Abele's, only gets a word in every once in a while. When the public gets upset and show up to comment, Tim and Tracy cannot control the meeting.

What does anybody care where board members eat or with whom?Buddy eats at Pats sncak bar all the time! You people need a life!

Monday night will be interesting !
I think I will go ask Nancy Taylor if I can consider running for school board since the SOS crowd is telling people if you know someone good have them contact her. What is SOS's standard for good? Kissing David Burleson's rear? Doing what the establishment likes? I just need some pointers from them to help make me a better person.I thought you had to go to the Board of Elections, not Nancy Taylor. I hear Mrs.Croom,Mrs.Avery are going to run if they are not in the same district. Better rethink both of those two.One will be torn to shreads the other will have an uphill battle that does not look good for them.I love how they are trying to rally the current students who are registered to vote and college students. SOS has no shame in what they will do to try to have a few people of influence on the board.Only problem is you want have control untill Nov 2011. Better tell David how much you appreciate him now, cause he will be gone!I do not think SOS can butter up to Rick Sherrill like they have David!

Anonymous said...

"What does anybody care where board members eat or with whom?Buddy eats at Pats sncak bar all the time! You people need a life!"

Fool! The point is that the Fab Four or Five (depending on where Ms. Sain-Brittain-Sain is that day)eat together (by twos and threes) at these places. Is Buddy at Pat's with any of them? I'm betting the answer is "Hell, no."

Anonymous said...

Correct! Because no one in their right state of mind, wants to eat with Mr.Armour.He probably eats there because it is a short walk from his counseling sessions,he can go find out the latest gossip from Tommy Sain, then talk to former attorney Sam Aycock about what went on in closed session. The Board members can meet by two's or three's because it is not a quorum. If there is a quorum it is considered a buisness meeting and that would be in violation of the open meetings law.It looks like your club lawyer in SOS would teach you these things, but I guess he and his wife can not get there heads out of David Burleson, and Susie Polpeter's rear long enough to do something. Ray and Buddy and Bill had lunch quite a bit, so did andy, and buddy, all the time.I bet they never discussed school buisness during those outings! Who cares the old board had crap already decided when they had meetings. They just hoped Troy Houser would go home where they could come out and do the dirty schemes, and not have it reported on radio or on film. This board can not hold a candlestick to the late meetings the old one had numerous times.
Buddy get medicated before Monday Night!

Anonymous said...

RE: "This board can not hold a candlestick to the late meetings the old one had numerous times."

Geez, 11:27, you're giving away how well-read you are. The phrase is "hold a CANDLE to". So name some restaurants and some dates where you saw all these so-called lunch meetings take place. Be careful.

BTW, looks like your friend "fisherman" got caught by the blog police breaking the morganton.com rules. We'll see how she does running your meeting. Maybe she can understand Robert's Rules, ya think?

any body know about the nomination of mike helms as head coach, word was chris deal....

David Burleson and Brian Oliver is brewing this up! Rick Sherrill has no clue the shit that he has stepped into, minus the trap Freedom set up for him.Why the rush for a new coach before Oliver left.Smells rotten on every side and it falls at David's doorstep.Time for him to go!

Anonymous said...

i dont understand why they would hire a man that sherril fired while he was at eastburke. things just are not adding up

Anonymous said...

I do not understand that,or firing Watson just before Christmas. They knew they were going to do it,I guess the rush was where a New Principal could not have a say.I think the whole thing stinks either way and I do not believe the board has a clue to how they have been set up.All votes on personel was approved by all 7 members. So,if a vote was taken on the coach I am assuming none of the 7 have a clue to what is going on.If David brought Mike Helms name then he is up to something because the recommendation has to come from him.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't any EB football parent remember why Helms was let go? Don't they remember the final straw?? Sherrill should remember.

Anonymous said...

I was told Rick Sherrill was the one who wanted Helms.Looks like he got what he wanted.I just dont know why he would want Helms after he fired him when he was at East Burke.Helms being fired had alot to do with his lack of disipline and allowing a 19 year to play on the team knowing he was not eligable to play.Mike Helms is not a very liked person. If he is the new head coach,I am now going to send my kids to Patton.

Anonymous said...

helms has never been anywhere long. he wont last long at freedom..... poor hire. to the poster above. thats a great idea to send your kids to patton. jk adkins is a great coach as well as a great man
