http://www2.morganton.com/content/2009/apr/07/sheriff-frisks-school-board-member/news-local/
So David Barnard and Karen Sain think Buddy Armor brings a gun to every meeting.
They tell the Sheriff.
Sheriff searches Buddy and his car.
Finds nothing.

WOW! Lots of Letters!
There are a ton of letters on Morganton.com speaking up against Tracy Norman. If I get around to it, I will write a little about each letter.
Molding Minds
Best Teachers
Personal Agenda
Don't Censor
Don't Hold Us Back
Excellent Book
What Books are Next?
Same Rules
Parent's Call
Also, I noticed an aritcle in the Charlotte Observer this weekend. Book to Raw For School. We are getting some exposure.
I know David Barnard doesn't like the book because San Fran newspaper likes it. I believe he called them wacko. It turns on Catwaba County is wacko too, and maybe Caldwell. "Catawba County Schools approved "The Kite Runner" last year, said spokeswoman Carleen Crawford, and it is being taught to at least one advanced English class. Caldwell County is considering adding the book to its curriculum next year, said spokeswoman Libby Brown. "

Story Sends Wrong Message to 10th Graders
Story Sends Wrong Message to 10th Graders
Props to David Barnard for dropping this gem
"David Barnard said redeeming value is subjective, and that the book’s acclaims should not be taken into account, such as its Book of the Year award from the San Francisco Chronicle.
“That in itself tells you it must be a pretty wacko book because that’s a pretty wacko center of the universe,” Barnard said.
My apologies to San Francisco and Burke County, you make us look like idiots.

Failed 5 - 2
Another Burke County Principal goes up and gets voted down.
God made the Idiot for practice, and then He made the School Board.

Platforms
http://www.morganton.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=MNH/MGArticle/MNH_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1173353295696
Rob Hairfield: Teachers are the most important profession because without teachers, there are no other professions.
You forgot the part about firing Randall Brackett
Karen Brittain Sain: As a nurse, she is entrusted with patients' lives. As a board member, she'll be entrusted with students' lives.
WTF, do you know what a platform is. how did you get elected? Watch out Tracy, Tims got a new girl.
David Barnard: He is running on fixing the dropout rate and creating a strategic plan to achieve goals.
Nice goal, can't really argue to much just hold you accountable. Lots of folks will be watching.
Tim Buff: The schools are doing a good job, but there is room for improvement. The board needs to work with the community and the principals and assistant principals.
too bad your actions don't match your words.

David Barnard Bio
Birthplace: Des Moines, Iowa.
oh no, you are not a home grown boy, don't tell Tim
About him: David Barnard said his wife thinks he's crazy. So do most of his friends
No arguments from me
Those goals were sparked in part by a year, two years ago, spent teaching seventh-grade science in the Burke County schools. During that time, he said, he was "appalled" by the administration's approach to middle school education; it was more important, he said, for kids to have high self-esteem than to learn anything.
I love these type of people, do something for a year and they are experts. I have seen you mention your "extensive" education experience. In my education experience i learned that extensive doesn't mean one year. I have heard that year didn't go so good. If anyone knows anything more concrete, please leave a comment.
He said he's hoping to apply experience from his corporate career to the school system. "In business, you have to look at the problems you have within the company and decide whether to scrap or solve (them and) come up with new ideas," he said. "I feel that could be my role."
Big difference between business and education. Business is all about the bottom line. A lot of money is spent on kids with special needs who don't qualify for a diploma. You can't scrap them.
How do you plan on measuring profit?
he would encourage greater parental involvement in the schools and listen more to community members and teachers. Burke County has excellent teachers, he said, and they need more support dealing with disruptive students.
Solid answer, you will be held accountable.
He also advocates better money management and questions whether two new high schools were necessary. He favored building one large, new, centrally located high school and using other money to fix outdated educational facilities, including overcrowded elementary schools and outdated high school science labs.
That must be your business side... Student preform better in smaller settings, surpirsed you didn't learn that in you extensive education work.

Black Wednesday
The election results are in and burke county has made a huge mistake. Taking new seats on the school board are Karen BRITTAIN-sain, Rob Hairfield, and David Barnard. Tim Buff is back to his old seat, so expect the same old tricks.
We are looking forward to seeing these screw ups try to run a school system.
First question, who is going to be the chair. I am putting my money on the grocery store manager. What do you think?
