I agree I support Mr. Burleson. This hasn't stopped me from thinking that Mr. Barnard sounded like a voice of reason. Tracie and Tim even voted her in as chair-maddamn when Mr. Barnard was out of town.
But after watching Mr. Barnards actions and words Monday night he should that he is the same as TNT (Tim n Tracy).
Karen appears to be a mute. She gets this stupid grin on her face but still looks like she has licked something very sour.
Poor Mr.Burleson,he has been out at the schools today trying to rally people to the next meeting.He does not seem to be a finalist for any job.He can not cut the mustard in another county,but maybe could fool a system for two to three years to get retirement.Why should we be concerned about his retirement? He has milked us enough.He stayed three or four years too long.I asked many people today what they thought about his soon to be departure.Most agree it is time for a new leader.He can not afford to go to court and drag this out with the board.Potential employer's would frown on that behaviour.You people need to look at history when it came to firing superintendents in Bloody Burke and other school employee's.Buddy has fired good people with no ryhme or reason.I think this is why they are in the position they sit at now.They have always been able to ride the wave,but not this time.They are going to drown in all the venom they have spewed and tears they have caused many family's in Burke County.Maybe this board is the lord telling the citizens of burke that the people you elect in the future had better do right and not cave in to the establishment!Buddy no matter what the News Herald does to paint you as an education hero,bets are 100/1 you will be gone NOV 09.

Have David wave his right to closed session and write it down on paper.Have the board wave their right to do this in closed session.No lawyers involved.Then let everyone in Burke County see what is really going on.Let David have his personel file reviewed in public,and let the board ask him direct questions in public.No name calling,and Buddy and Sam need to let David defend himself and his actions.A godly man would have nothing to hide.If their is not enough to fire Burleson,then give him one more year.But,if Burleson can not tell the truth,or an not defend his actions then terminate him that night and let us move on with the buisness of the schools. Mr. Sherrill even tried to say that the family of 4 in Conover who was murdered because of a bad drug deal from ASIA was related to the dress code. He then said that GOD told him to write this policy. God sure didn't help him with his long boring powerpoint show.

No one gave an accurate reason why my post about having everything in open session would let the people see once and for all what is going on.I say if David can sit and answer the boards questions,without buddy and sam interjecting to cover his backside let's do it.If he comes out clean as a whistle he should remain in his position.
Many of you David supporters are saying what a godly man he is.I am wanting to hear what he has done for Education in Burke County? Have we jumped in leaps and bounds? Has the dropout rate reduced? Has test score's soared?
We have had major problems the last few years,even before the fraud five,the fab five was the old board, came in to office.
David stabbed Tony Stewart in the back to get where he is.Board members ran at the time with the promise to get rid of stewart and make Burleson the man.I thought stewart was weak as pond water.I now think David is weak when it comes to making tough,hard decisions.
A member of Mr.Armour's church told me that if David could not make a call on issues such as books,media and other big policies because it may offend someone,then he may not be in the lord's will.I am not judging David's heart but it does make one wander why he has to let certain issues get to the board.Yes they make the final call,but does he love letting the board take the rap?
David has made graet strides to make education in Burke the best! He will ashamedly be remembered by his East Burke debacle and it may not be fair.Did sitting board members then threaten him on what he had better do with that situation? Buddy would never let David join or work with the new board and now it has cost him.
People should think the majority of the old board for ruining David's career and allowing him to function in a manner that dearly cost Burke County.

Fewer NC Students Dropped Out of School in 2007-08;
Annual Dropout Rate Falls to Below 5 Percent
The rate in 2006-07 was 5.24 percent with 23,550 students leaving before graduation.
“This is good news for North Carolina. Local schools are using all of the tools available to help students stay in school,” said State Superintendent June Atkinson. “The credit for this success goes to local educators for finding ways to re-engage students and to students and their families for recognizing the need to stay in school.”
Atkinson noted that decreases in the annual dropout rate should lead to increases over the next few years in the four-year cohort graduation rate – the number of students who graduate from high school four years after entering ninth grade. The four-year graduation rate in 2007-08 was 70.3 percent.
Dropout rates fell in 66 of the state’s 115 school districts. The largest decreases in rates were in Hertford, Dare, Jones, Graham and Burke counties.

David Burleson needs to go to greener pastures.Is Rick Sherrill a long term fix? Probably not but he will do a good job for four to five years. Superintendents get fired and it comes with the territory.David has peaked about three years ago,and could have left with his integrity intact.I still believe Buddy Armour will not allow him to make changes he needed to make to stay in the good grace's of this board.
I understand David's attorney is now pondering some things in David's personel file.David has not had an evaluation from the whole board since 2005 before this year.My question is,did the old board just not give a damn about doing their job,or were they trying to set it up in the future that since they had not done their job,David would get to stay? Here is another question.
As smart an attorney as some claim Aycock is,why did he not catch the glitch in David's contract? Or did they think that David would get a longer one if they messed up that one?
Here are my thoughts,Sam Aycock wrote it for april 2010 because they never thought the board would change enough to make a difference.Also,they could not have Randall Brackett's and Andy Anderson's contract all be up in june 2010.They thought the public may not like that. No matter where you stand David was done in by the old board on many fronts and now this one will get rid of him.Just emaginge what David' attorney thought when he saw there were no evaluation's from the majority of the old board since 2005 and now the evaluation's this majority wrote probably were not glowing.

First, the video has no one undressing in it,and we will take chances with the felony.Burleson claimed he watched it no harm,no foul.
Second,Hairfield's email if forwarded would not be grounds for dismissal.If it was a direct statement form him,then maybe.If I was Hairfield I would get to who I emailed in the system such a joke and see who it was.If it was done on private email system to another private email.Not much can be done.Sounds like John Ervin grasping for straws on David's behalf.Oh, Mr.Ervin Susan Polpeter tried to have Rob removed but that did not work either.
Third, Bulk mailing works both ways and I bet what will be mailed out on 4-23-09 will drop some Burke Residents to their knee's.
Fourth, If in fact Rob Hairfield was removed from office,Tracy,Tim,Dave,and Karen are still in the majority and can appoint Rob's replacement.No following who got the second most votes or none of that hoopla because I already checked with the State School Board and board of elections.So you lose yet again!

I think somewhere it is sworn testimony that Rexanna Lowman made an attempt to buy the video.She failed. What I need to know is how Burleson threatned the kids to give him the video?

MORGANTON - For the past five years, East Burke High School's website exposed 163 staff members' Social Security numbers and other personal information on the Internet.
Liberty Coalition, a Washington, D.C.-based organization that searches for security breaches on the Internet, found the information using simple keywords in Yahoo's search engine. Spokesman Aaron Titus said the file contained personal information including names, Social Security numbers, addresses, phone numbers, job titles, email ad-dresses and unlisted phone numbers of 163 teachers, bus drivers, custodians and other staff members.
On Aug. 27, the group informed the school district about the problem.
Liberty Coalition said school officials removed the file within 20 minutes and started working to clear search engine caches.
Before Liberty Coalition publicly announces a security breach, Titus said it makes sure someone removes the file from the Web. Despite this, he said, it is impossible to guarantee someone did not archive a copy elsewhere on the Internet.
Burke County Public Schools Superintendent David Burleson said it seemed likely the school uploaded the file to the web in 2003 when posting the 2003-2004 East Burke High School student directory.

Burleson will meet with RICK SHERRILL, East Burke's principal in 2003 and now the school district's associate super-intendent, to try to learn more about how the file got online.
Burleson said all 163 people on the list, including those that no longer work for the school, received a letter Friday telling them the website exposed their personal information. The letter described the circumstances, outlined what Burke County Public Schools is doing to protect the victims and provided information on action people should take such as checking their credit rating and financial accounts.
The News Herald made several attempts to contact 2003 staff members for reactions and responses. None of those contacted wished to make statements.
Liberty Coalition said the school district in the future should replace Social Security numbers with employee numbers, minimize the number of staff with access to private information, identify staff members who do not need full access, hold mandatory staff training on privacy and proper handling of information, hire an identity-theft protection company to provide free credit-protection services to people whose data was online and perform a complete scan of school servers in the next month to make certain no other personal information is at risk.
The school district and the State Employees Credit Union will have a meeting Wednesday at East Burke to talk about preventing and responding to identity theft and to address people's questions and concerns.
Burleson said he's not aware of any other security breach like this in the county school system

Are you referring to the Wayne Whaley who is this year's selection for teacher of the year at East Burke? Wonder how those folks who had their socials 'outed' feel about that?
As i read these comments it saddens me to think that people have lowered themselves to such levels. Does it make you feel better to call someone a candy *** or say Karen has greasy hair? Does it make you feel smarter to call Tracy a Dumb***? I went to bcps throughout my elementary, middle, and high school career. I no longer live in the area but to know that this is how you people react now i am glad that i have graduated. Maybe it was how my parents raised me but when i was younger i was taught that it's alright to disagree that as an American everyone is entitled to their own opinion. It seems that everyone on this blog has taken this to an extereme. It's very sad that you have reduced to name calling and making fun of people, maybe the "bullies" in bcps are your children...maybe the name calling you do is rubbing off.
