We've now had 2 months of the monkey's running the zoo and the quality of this school system has already taken a hit. When you have a drunk, a disgruntled former employee, a grocery store manager, a mute/puppet, and what else can I say other than "Tracy" running things, what more can you expect? I feel sorry for Mr. Rhoney, Mr. Burleson, Ms. Lowman, the Draughn H.S. community, and the rest of the school system employees who will have to endure the difficult days that lie ahead.
What is unfortunate is that we have 22 more months to endure the incompetence of 1 of the board members and 46 months for the remaining 4. I can't begin to imagine what the state of our school system will be before we have the opportunity to vote these idiots out of office. I fear losing master teachers to our neighboring school systems that not only support and respect their educators, but also pay a higher supplement. Tim Buff has continously demonstrated his lack of knowledge about school board procedures, precedence, and guidelines. His vice chair is one of his employees that also rents from him. The two of them eat lunch together weekly at Tri-City, go to events such as the turkey federation annual dinner, etc. There is an obvious conflict of interest. Somewhere in all of this, there has got to be a way to impeach him as Chair. For the sake of our children, their education, and their future, we can't wait until the next election to remove some of their control and power. We also need a superintendent who will stand up to these individuals and do what is best for the students and educators of Burke County. If Mr. Burleson thought Rexanna and Doug were the best choices, he should have stood by them.
I am deeply saddened by the antics of this school board. It seems that only two members really care about the students. Sam and Buddy are to be commended for what they've tried to do. I'm sure Mike Kenney is a good man, but we'll have to wait to see if he can lead a new high school.
I think Mr Burleson is a very nice man, but I also think he needs to toughen up and become more out-spoken. So come on, give me your wallet, Mr. Burleson. If you don't stand up, the board will force you out of a job, so you might as well give me the money (a raise) while you can.
I would like to add to the list of Tim and Tracy sightings posted by a previous blogger. They do eat lunch weekly at Tri-County (for those of you that don't know, it's a bar far, far away from town, go to church together and go deer hunting together. Seems like quite a lot of togetherness.
I just listened to the BOE audio files from the last meeting and some previous ones. Tracy, have you thought about taking a grammar class? I'm sure there's one a WPCC. Karen, I guess you can't do anything without cue cards. Hairfield, do you remember "Harper Valley P.T.A.?" I guess our "moral" school board members haven't realized how the song parallels their situation. A drunk, adultery, hipocrisy . . . it's a catchy little tune.
Blake Norman's court date is coming up in a few days. Carrying a concealed gun, possession, open container, etc. Yep, the Norman family does set a great example for all the kids in Burke County!

Does anyone know what we can do to kick her you know what out of the board, county or heck even the state? I know there is something we can do to get her kicked off the board. This is in response to the people who have said that David Burleson needs to "stand up" and "toughen up." What do you suppose he does? Need I remind you that the superintendent works FOR THE SCHOOL BOARD. He is thier employee. What would you have him do? He is trying his absolute best to keep our school system from falling into the hands of these 5 who now thing they run it. At Friday nights meeting, Mr. Burleson fought for Doug Rhoney for an hour, but ultimately it is not his decision. It comes down to the school board (or should I say the 5 that now run it's) vote. If you add the number of votes, 5-2, you will realize that equals 7, the 7 members on the school board. This does NOT include Mr. Burleson, therefore he does NOT have a vote. The new high school could not open without a principle and it was only obvious that the board was not going to approve ANYONE that Mr. Burleson recommended. I do not understand what you would expect him to do. Obviously he is incapable to bringing forth a suitable canidate seeing as how he is a former principle of the year and has worked diligently in our school system for 8 years. Mr. Burleson's hands are tied. Maybe people should of realized who the were giving the power to back in November and we wouldnt be in this mess. So for you who thinks Mr. Burleson is not doing all that he can, please - tell me how you would do it differently.
He could have appointed Rexanna Lowman as the principal of Draughn. That is a lateral move and does not require board approval. She could have worked in a dual roll (much like Mr. Kenney claims he is going to do)maintaining the principalship at EBHS while making decisions about staffing, scheduling, ordering, etc... for Draughn. Her fellow administrators would have supported her and helped her in any way to keep both schools running smoothly. As a team, they would have made sure Draughn was on schedule and ready for her to take the helm come May 1 when the state will pick up the principal salary for Draughn. What a smooth transition our kids would have had. The only reason her name would have had to have been taken before the board would have been for them to agree to pay the principal salary from what would have been January through the end of April.
I feel sorry for Randy Sain most of all. Can you imagine being married to Karen? He's a principal in our county. We all know most of the principals don't agree with this idiotic board. A loving wife wouldn't have ran. She must just want to piss him off. Why did she run for the Board of Education in the first place? Everyone who has an axe to grind against educators they either are jealous of or have envy towards showed up to vote. The change that has occurred with this new board is supported by people who have no idea what it takes daily to educate and help our children grow into the leaders of tomorrow. They are all about revenge against those they "think" have treated them unfairly. It makes me sick that BCPS educators, especially on the Eastern end of the county, are having to put up with the nonsense of this board and some of our citizens.

Now that the site has been publicized in the paper, children across this county and others will have access to all of the comments on this board; vulgar language, slanderous remarks, disrespect, etc... I assure you this will spill over into the classrooms for teachers and administrators to deal with. In the interest of our children, let's cease and desist.

Tim has a high school diploma, Tracy a GED, David a reputation of not being able to run a classroom at TRMS, and Rob an individual whose editorials are second to none(at least he would write the News Herald prior to his election for awesome comedy material). These people are more than capable of running our board and Burkemont Baptist. When you elect a God fearing high school educated idiot to run the show it is humurous.

I don't understand the anger against Adam Hastings. He just reported precisely what a student publiclytold him-and others. It was his DUTY to report this. Surely no one doubts he heard the taped conversations of the closed session-which IS illegel. Everybody knows Tracy was lying-the attorneys, the other board members, and GOD!!! What goes around comes around!
Courageous Adam got the hell out of dodge before the hearing. Why? Stand up if it was the truth and stand your ground. Why did the old board not pursue it! They should have raided tracys home to look for the tape.No they were afraid of tracy's attorney pure and simple and what he would have brought out about everything.

Burleson a criminal? Hmm, we all thought Buff Norman set up the video in a public bathroom FELONY, showed it at her home FELONY, had a teen lie and take back his words on hearing it OBSTRUCTION. Man, burleson is bad huh? And mr. burleson has one wife, not two, thats bad of him too isnt it! Was burlesons kids in court for drinking, and drugs, I am trying to find it on the court docit website, just coming up with a norman. Maybe burleson should be a better parent too since he is so bad.
I would leave obstruction out of this one. You know David is guilty of that one.Their was a female principal in sc who had a cheerleading coach who gave alcohol to miners last year around the time billy andersons debacle took place.She told the students they would be suspended for talking about the issue.The police arrested this principal for obstruction and took her home computer as well as school office computer.David and Rexanna are guilty of obstruction no question.If tracy did something illegal file charges.I would love for everything to be opened up in raliegh and I guarantee you we may see the whole past board and administration in a lot of hot water! You know in your nimble mind that is why tracy will not be charged nor the kids because what Burleson did will come into question and we could not have that could we? You are beating a dead horse and you know it, all you can try to do is persuade people to believe it was the kids and tracy who got anderson in trouble.Well I say again charge people if you or someone has the testicles to do so.
