I fuckin' told you so

My first post

The election results are in and burke county has made a huge mistake. Taking new seats on the school board are Karen BRITTAIN-sain, Rob Hairfield, and David Barnard. Tim Buff is back to his old seat, so expect the same old tricks.

We are looking forward to seeing these screw ups try to run a school system.

Public Comment Procedures – Mr. Burleson read the current procedures that were adopted in 1996. There wasn't a specific board policy. Mr. Martinat agreed the board had been lax in enforcing the procedures. He explained the need to follow guidelines/policies during the public comment session such as personnel issues with names being used. He added that personnel issues could be addressed in closed session. He also indicated that the public comment session was not a question and answer period for the board; it is for public comment. Mr. Simmons acknowledged the board has tried to accommodate the public during the public comment session. Contacting the Superintendent before addressing the board would allow the Superintendent to let individuals know legalities before addressing the board. Mr. Buff stated he had no problem with individuals contacting the Superintendent, but he did not want this to be used to silence individuals who wished to speak. Mr. Martinat pointed out this was in no way meant to silence anyone, but to make sure discussion did not take place that would not be suitable for open session. Mrs. Norman wondered if the same rule would apply to individuals who discussed issues during public comment as it does with board discussions of issues such as personnel and if the board could be held liable for any comments made by individuals during public comments. Mr. Aycock stated the board could not be held liable for comments made during the public comments session.

Mr. Brandon suggested the public be aware that some comments they might make could be considered slanderous. Mr. Aycock stated this may or may not keep the public from making them. Mr. Brandon recommended the board develop a policy concerning public comments during board meetings.

There was also some discussion about individuals running for public office requesting to speak at board meetings.

The consensus of the board was for the Superintendent to proceed with developing a policy concerning public comment at board meetings.

Reckon how ol' Andy & Billy Anderson are feeling right now??

Anonymous said...

I bet they are feeling pretty damn good like the rest of us who got the hell out of Burke County!

Anonymous said...

So you are saying...Andy & Billy hung David B out to dry as well?

Because they sure don't care about him now!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

I'm wondering how Libby and the rest of the Coopers are feeling? They sold their souls for a basketball coaching job, and it still didn't happen. Libby paraded Buff around like an old friend, now we risk losing accreditation.

Anonymous said...

how about that former secretary at forest hill that showed off & touted Barnyard as the greatest thing since toast. her sister too.

Anonymous said...

Angela Lail said, "This is far from over!!!!"

Folks...............it's OVER.

and forget about the "wait until November" crap. They accomplished their goal.

Anonymous said...

Nahhhh, it ain't over yet. Soo many lawsuits, so little time... so little money. Such little minds,...... it ain't over. Ya can not cause this much stink and not expect it to stink a long time.

Anonymous said...

OH, it's gonna stink for a long, long time.

BUT, the ultimate objective is complete.

thus, it's OVER.

Anonymous said...

Reckon how ol' Andy & Billy Anderson are feeling right now??

Anonymous said...

It ain't over by a long shot. Burke County folks have a long memory.

Anonymous said...

it's OVER.

if it wasn't over, Dr. Burleson would still by your super.

He is not.

He resigned.

Anonymous said...

Burke County Schools has lost a great superintendent and a wonderful person. I hope Betty Terrell and Rick Sherrill are happy they stabbed him in the back. I can believe Sherrill did this because he was mad he didn't get the asst. super job when Anderson did. But Betty?? Mr. Burleson covered her A many times. I'm shocked she would turn on him like she did.....

Anonymous said...

I suspect Andy Anderson is laughing all the way to the bank!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

David is better off now. He is going to get the heck away from Burke County idiots. You people are stupid. You run good people off and let idiots in.

Anonymous said...

Burleson did not resign. The majority of the skool bored bought out his contract. Tiny Tim just worded the motion that way to confuse people. Timmy's really good at that double talk.

Anonymous said...

It will be over in November.

Anonymous said...

Maybe Tricky Ricky is ready to turn on Terrell. Mrs. Sherrill has been at the Rickster's side at all the school board meetings. Where was Betty??

On the July 6th school board meeting, you've got to see and hear this:

On Part 1 -- Buddy asked Tracy during session why she flip-flopped agendas 3&4. If you go back to 3:15 to 3:27, you will hear Rob ask Tracy if she is going to switch the agendas,to which Tracy replies yes, and Rob says, "get it on there first, that way half these people can get mad and go home." I guess shooting to kill is out of the question now, so they just want to piss people off so they will leave!

On Part 3: After Buddy gave the rest of the board an earful about why the board can't be trusted with its funds, starting 35:36, Tim addresses Tracy in saying "this is a new era of responsibility" (Ha!) and then has the gall to point to the audience as an example of how our county schools have been run "with intimidation." Watch how insaine ol' Saine is in mimicking Tim Buff's finger pointing, then she replies to the audience "Look in the mirror, look in the mirror" and then she goes off the deep end from there by having some argument with an audience member about not wearing her wedding ring and something about being pushed off the diving board, which I can't make any sense of, but then again, consider the source.

You have got to watch this! A fine example of insanity and hypocrisy in our school board. They just say whatever suits them and call it the truth.

Here's the link to the steaming video -- http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/1763556

Anonymous said...

You did tell us so. I just read back to the 2007 postings, and in November Tim Buff was quoted in saying that Burleson's job was safe.

"Buff said neither he nor other board members he knows of have any intentions of getting rid of Burleson or anyone else in the Central Office.
He credits rumors of the instability of certain jobs to cheap shots against him and the other new board members."

And we are expected to believe anything that Tim Buff says now -- "new era of responsibility" my ass!

Anonymous said...

So, now that DB is a free man, and a little richer to go w/ it, do you think he'll run for the school board in the fall? I'll lay odds he does. I think whoever is right that wrote in "it ain't over".

Anonymous said...

so, what's happening with the county commish meeting tonight??

Anonymous said...

Tricky Dick's wife might be by his side in public, but I would lay odds that Betty Terrell is there in private....

Anonymous said...

Dawn of a new day....pleassse!!!

This will all be over soon after the election. Unless the rednecks at the meetings continue to cause trouble. Whats done is done get over it and move on! I love to watch the videos and see rednecks in the audience show their asses. The redneck woman in the front takes her shirt on and off all during the meeting, I think shes trying to flash Tim or something. She needs to get a life or be added to you might be a redneck if you take your shirt on and off during a school board meeting, Foxworthy would love to see that. They make Burke County proud with all the yelling during a meeting by elected officials. Looks like good ole Burke County rednecks will continue to runs jobs off for this county. We in Catawba County keep getting businesses that ya'll don't want. I'm glad Apple chose us. To the people in Burke County continue to show how redneck you are and don't move here as we know how to police public meetings. I must say the Board meeting are fun to watch, just wished the camera was showing the audience more, that is where the real show is. Keep up the good work rednecks.

Anonymous said...

@ redneck poster.....the real rednecks are the 5 that sit on the board of education. Too bad the video didn't show madam chair chasing a man out of the building into the parking lot. Then when she re-entered the building she verbally confronted a citizen as they were trying to leave. Then you must have missed the part where Ms. Sain starts babbling about her ring being too small and jumping off a diving board. You surely must have overlooked Ms. Sain and Ms. Norman chewing gum and blowing bubbles during every meeting. Don't forgot Hairfield trying to make everyone mad so they would leave early. People can only take so much. There are consequences for the board members actions. When the audience becomes vocal it is because the board members have incited them. Believe me, many times Ms. Norman enters meetings looking for a fight.

Anonymous said...

You should thank your lucky stars Mr. Catawba County that your elected officials worked together to secure the Apple deal. Apple did look at Burke County however when they heard about the school board and the possibility of losing accreditation they landed in Catawba County. Maybe you should thank the Burke County Board of Education for sending Apple to you.

Anonymous said...

The one posting comments about rednecks must be a member of the current school board. Are you a little surprised that people continue to attend the meetings? Did you think we would all just go away? Ms. Sain sure looked surprised at last night's County Commission meeting when she walked in and saw a full house.

Anonymous said...

Let me get this straight, BOE has meetings that they have been elected to do but your citizens don't like what they do. You voice your opinions during the meetings by yelling at its members during the meetings and that ain't redneck. Come on , meetings are protected by the police to provide order, and when someone is asked to leave they don't , and that ain't redneck. Police don't keep order in meetings because they feel it is unpopular to be on the side of the board, and that ain't redneck. So let me get this straight, the police only protect and hold order with who they like or agree with politically, and that is right? You would never see this in Catawba County because there would be order in all meetings or you go to jail period!!! The girl who changes her shirt in the meeting should run for school board as she would fit right in. Don't tell me I'm on one side or the other, just someone who watches the meetings and makes observations and forms an opinion on what he sees. If you don't like whats going on vote em out. Dang, you can't fix stupid

Anonymous said...

To those who make judgements about what goes on in Burke County... and do not have a stake in it.... I guesss those gents in 1776 were just a bunch of rednecks too. They saw injustice, abuse of power and poor leadership.
We are not rednecks for standing up for our rights. We are Americans. We are the public. And Mr./Mrs. other county... just remember it could happen to you next. Unless of course you are not who you say... but it could still happen to you.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Catawba County - if indeed that's who you are - the police have done an excellent job maintaining order at all of the school board meetings. You seem to know a lot about Burke County affairs when you don't even live here or have a stake in our school system. How do you have the time to watch the videos and read all the blogs? This involves my children and I have a hard time juggling meetings scheduled during working hours, reading the blogs and watching video clips. So why all the interest in Burke County? Could it be you are actually one of the infamous 5?

Anonymous said...

what is the deal with the Patton principal? I heard the old one got shipped out because she was no longer protected by burleson. perhaps the board had enough of the soap opera circus she was running at that school and decided to make a change.

Anonymous said...

Justify the actions during the meetings if you can. Tell me how the actions of the people in the meetings are right, tell me how that is good for your schools. What good is that going to do for the schools,PLEASE TELL ME. Someone defend the actions of the woman on the front row who takes her shirt on and off or the punk who run his mount sitting beside her and was asked to leave, PLEASE DEFEND THOSE ACTIONS AND THE GOOD THAT BRINGS!!!!!! I would like to know how that advances education. Come on people defend the actions of the members of the audience. Law is law and order is order, none of which seems to be in good ole Burke County.

Anonymous said...

McFarlin was the best principal of all the high schools in this county.Atleast she never fired people by voice mail like brian oliver did.

Anonymous said...

Well, I tell you what Mr. Catawba County, if you were to look at state tests scores overall county by county, you will see Burke County scored higher in most of the categories compared to Catawba County Schools, and more schools in Burke County met expected growth than Catawba (look it up on the NC public schools web site). That is accredited to high number of teachers and parents in Burke County who care enough about their children's and their neighbors' children's education that they are willing to fight against the policymakers who are undermining that. Do not try to point out the speck in our eye, Mr. Catawba, until you can remove the board in your own. Your county has its own issues to deal with, so deal with yours and let us deal with ours, in other words, mind your own damn business!

Anonymous said...

McFarlin ran Patton like a correctional facility, or a Soviet block country. I'm suprized the teachers and students didn't have to wear black and white striped uniforms. I heard everyone over there, with the exception of her inner circle of teachers and assistant principals, were miserable. She treated her teachers like elementary school kids instead of colleagues. And this comes NOT from the teachers, but from the students. And if students, whose world normally doesn't extend past their own noses, notice something like that going on, then it must have been pretty obvious. I just hope whoever is principal at Patton this next school year is a step up, because with the board in charge, their selection could always be worse!

Anonymous said...

In response to Mr. Catawba, to quote Thomas Paine one of the founding fathers of the American Revolution, "if a thief breaks into [your] house, burns and destroys [your] property, and kills or threatens to kill [you], or those that are in it, and to 'bind [you] in all cases whatsoever'" are you just going to let it happen? Would you say, no, that would be out of order because I was told to turn the other cheek? The school board is a modern-day case of taxation without representation. We are paying our taxes here in Burke County, and many folks elected them , but we are not being represented by this board. Some folks in Boston felt the same way, and they dumped tea into the Boston Harbor. I guess you would call that just a bunch of redneck yahoos being out of order, but most Americans would call that patriotism! Sure, this is on a smaller scale than the American Revolution, but I don't see any difference between what King George did to our colonies out of spite for our protests, and many people including Thomas Paine had some choice names to call him. So excuse me, Mr. Catawba, or should I call you Mr. Torie, for our citizens in standing up against the injustice of those in power. If you don't like it, stop watching our board meetings. Go to Hickory Motor Speedway if you want to see some rednecks.

Anonymous said...

My child is a student at Patton High. McFarlin was an awesome principal. The kids respected her and knew she had their best interests at heart. She allowed them to have fun and express themselves yet mind their manners. She expected the best from them and received it. Ms. McFarlin knew every student by name, their circumstances and needs. She will be greatly missed.

Anonymous said...

@8:56 obviously you don't know Shanda. She doesn't need anyone to protect her. She is quiet capable of standing on her own.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Catawba you have no idea. We will take over this whole county if we fill like it. BOE is just the beginning, if the county commisoners do not do what we say they will be next. You call it redneck we call it revolution and revolt as my fellow warrior call it. We control the police and anybody else we want too, so butt out. It is none of your business what we do up here. Yea as for the woman on the front row and the "punk", they are some of the best we have, lights on a shinning hill.

Anonymous said...

LIKE I SAID YOU CANNOT FIX STUPID!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

calling it a revolt, and saying we control the police? I think that's saying a bit too much and I would consider that an insult to our law enforcement. We may be rednecks, but don't give Mr. Catawba another reason to call us uncivilized and uncouth.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, but this isn't the French Revolution, where they toppled all authority but didn't know how to lead themselves. I'm all for the removal of ineffectual leaders (the Fraud 5), but we need to watch how we criticize every person of authority simply because they are in a position of authority. We don't want to turn out like the dang French.
