If your school does not use Aesop, it will be your responsibility to contact any subs you have scheduled for future absences and cancel with them. If you do not cancel with the sub and they show up, your school will be required to pay for the substitute. Substitutes for teachers on Leave of Absence will not be affected. If you have an emergency situation and cannot fill the absence internally, please contact Winston Bagley at 828-439-4301 or Julie Thompson at 828-439-4322 for approval to get a substitute. Teachers will still be required to enter their absences on Aesop; however Aesop will not post absences or call to find substitutes. This will allow us to continue to track absences through the end of the year. We apologize in advance for the inconvenience; however with the current budget issues we must do all that we can to reduce excess spending in any way possible.

His department has more employees than any other department in the central office. If he can't do the job with that many employees, he needs to move on...........
Ok now the the teachers have given up 50% ( that's not counting 1/2% wages and furlough days with no pay) Tas have given up 1hr 1/2 everyday in pay....What kind of pay cut is Burleson and the central office giving up?
Mr. Burleson stated at a board meeting he would take a 61/2% cut in pay and he does not take his supplement. I don't know about the others in the central office. There are numerous BIG salaries there now so it will be interesting to see who steps up.
Since the budget is in bad shape, why doesn't the News Herald print the salaries of personnel in Burke County like Catawba County did?????? Guess no one in Burke County Schools wants anyone to see their salaries, especially those the board has given huge increases to ...............
Couple of items: 1) Why the 6% in hours cut for the non-certified and 2.25% cut for the certified. A little one sided isn't it. Oh well, we're sort of used to the ship being a little crooked...
2) After combing this blog looking for actionable items, I am quite amazed that no one has discussed the old "tar bucket" and "feathers bag" for this bunch. I think it's about time someone in the roofing business showed up at a board meeting with their tar kettle and someone else who owns a chicken farm shows up with the feathers. I think a more "physical message" needs to be sent, you know something that anyone can understand.
Burke Co. isn't so far progressed or advanced that a good ole' taring and feathering isn't too far fetched.
