The situation with Shanda and JK is a financial concern!!! Shanda promoted JK to Instructional Coach while she was having an affair with him. He was not qualified for the job... but it gave him a HUGE salary increase. When Shanda was moved to Hillcrest she went with the same salary she made at Patton... Hillcrest has 250 students and Patton has 1100... That is a misuse of funds!!!!!Both of them should have been fired and saved the county thousnads of dollars.
However, with coverups and protecting people being what they were in Burke County, we have A LOT of people who make more money than they are worth. Betty Terrell making $137,000 a year.. are you kidding me??? She does nothing worthy that kind of money. You want to help fix problems in BCPS get rid of dead weight at Central Office!!!

How she treated the teachers at Patton High School was a big reason she was removed from Patton and placed at Hillcrest. Her misuse of funds was a reason she was moved from Patton and placed at Hillcrest. Her affair with JK was the last staw in a long list of complaints. In regards to the promotion of JK... ICs might get the same pay as a teacher... Shanda allowed JK to act as an administrator... a position he was not qualified for.... he was not really qualified to be the instructional coach either. When a person in the power allows only "certain ones" to have power and has based given that person power because he/she is sleeping with that person... it is unethical and they both deserved to be fired.So when you say the affair had nothing to so with their job... you are mistaken... it had everything to do with their job.
In the past the employees in question have just been moved to another location... with the same pay usually... that is why this is about finances.

IC's generally work with teachers,not students. Normally their task is to bring instruction back to the teachers from workshops. I know some do more but basically this is what they do.
From my understanding, IC's work with teachers- especially new teachers- on new instructional strategies, classroom management, use of technology, etc. In addition, they can be used to tutor struggling students, in service training, and/or help with students with IEP's or behavioral problems.
As for Burleson not wanting Sherrill -- what a SLAP IN THE FACE to his friend, Andy Anderson. So Anderson's job was not necessary? We all understood Burleson didn't want Sherrill because he knew Sherrill wouldn't run the plays in the Armour/Burleson playbook. (Will this be censored?)

Teachers and Instructional Coaches get the same pay. IC work an extra two weeks.

A district court judge on Tuesday placed a temporary restraining order on Burke County Board of Education member and local businessman Tim Buff.
