That story just about brought the News Herald clear up to the level of tabloid newspaper. How many other restraining orders were issued in the county this week? Why aren't they all listed in the news herald? Whether I think Buff should crawl back under the rock he came from is irrelevant, but a family's personal and private life should remain as such, regardless of whether they hold a public job or not. We all pretty much knew Buffy was porking Trashy anyway.

OK, research hounds. The name of this thread is DIVORCE. According to the papers on-file at the Clerk's office, Buff and a Robert L. Jones own a house on Hwy 81 in Newberry County, SC. 749 square foot house. Tax value:$25,300. Tax paid: $612.56. The property was bought in 2001 without Charlotte's knowledge. Tax bills are sent to Wayne and Carrie Buff at 4457 Mt. Gilead Church Road, Connelly Springs, NC. Also, Newberry County records show that Wayne and Carrie Buff own property at 2483 Brazelman's Bridge Rd. 590 square foot house. Total value $20,100. Coincidence or what? Why would mom and dad know about these properties and the wife would not?
The fund balance went into the red because of stupid spending, something that there's still no immunity to.

Actually, according to BCPS policy it is AGAINST policy when one of the people in the affair is in a higher position than the other person.. that is the case with SM and JK and RF and oh so many!!!!
Administrators are duty-bound to uphold board policy. When they knowingly do not follow policy, they open themselves up for dismissal with cause.
Plus, of the 14 reasons listed in the statutes that would permit the dismissal of a teacher, "moral terpitude" is just one reason.
It's ashame we could not apply this to board members. And you cannot leave a teacher's or an administrator's personal life out of any equation when this kind of conduct is on file at the clerk's office.

The board has not voted to hire a new attorney yet, but I understand that the ad-hoc committee assigned to interview and bring a recommendation to the board will do so very soon.
The issue is that an attorney has already been rejected by way of a letter. How? The full board has not met to discuss who should be eliminated as attorney. This does not seem like the ethical type procedure we were promised by SWAT.

Saw on live-stream last night where Sain tried to claim Armour was unethical for using his school board pass to get his family in games.
First of all, you never see Sain supporting anything. Second of all, Armour attends many sporting and academic events. I've been in line behind him before. He shows his pass and has the money in his hand. They wave him and anyone with him through. I don't mind it because we know he and Sam and two new ones put in a lot of hours for the kids.
Look how far we have come from the depths of of Tracy Hell since November. The schools are settling down and the airways and papers are reporting something other than school board screw-ups.
Buff is virtually neutered, and Sain should just stay silent. Neither have anything constructive to offer. The three need to go the hell on. But I hope they don't so we can give their opponents ninety-FIVE percent of the vote.

I think it is all and wonderful school board members get in the games free But... look at all the county employees that have had their hours and supplements cut and they still have to pay to see their children play sports.
5:28 PM, I see your point, and it is well-taken. But that same employee could be in my shoes and lost his or her job altogether. I still attend games when I can, but it means sacrificing something else. Yet I don't begrudge his board pass and what he does with it. He put himself out there to try and help students. I did not. He also receives public criticism for every mistake he makes. I do not. We have entrusted him and three others to right a horrific wrong against our children. I do not have that kind of burden. So let him and whoever is with him get in the games free. I don't mind.
Not trying to evoke sympathy or empathy for anyone, but along those lines of joblessness and sacrifice, I have learned that Mr. Armour lost his job over a year ago and had to start over. Not sure I wouldn't have said to heck with the BOE and walked away. Same for Mr. Wilkinson. His family has dealt with some serious illness, and it would have been easier for him to leave the BOE and turn inward to his family. These two have put up with a lot of difficulty they had no control over on and away from the board of education. How many of us would have stayed with it when faced with such issues? Not sure I could say I would have.
Conversely, Buff and Sain did have control of the circumstances that threatened to make their lives miserable, and they chose to go down that road anyway. Shame on them.

WINSTON-SALEM -- School officials have promoted Principal David Burleson of North Forsyth High School to serve as an assistant superintendent of high schools.
Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Board of Education unanimously approved Burleson's promotion during its meeting Tuesday night. Burleson will serve as principal at North Forsyth through the end of the school year before taking over as assistant superintendent.
He will replace Paul Puryear, who retired in December. School officials have not determined Burleson's annual salary, said Theo Helm, a spokesman for the school system.
Burleson served as superintendent of Burke County Schools for nine years before coming to North Forsyth. He also worked as an associate superintendent in Burke County from 1996 to 2000. Burleson earned bachelor's degree, master's degree and educational-specialist degrees at Appalachian State University.
Burleson's experience will be an asset to the school system, Superintendent Don Martin said.
"I think he's used to dealing with big picture issues, and he's had a lot of experience talking to parents and principals," Martin said

The board meeting went very well tonight. Buff and Sain were totally neutered and spayed. And Great Scott, F Carswell, and H Perrou were all there in one body - Carol Snow.
I have noticed in the last two meetings that Buff has trouble accepting the fact that employees often leave BCPS for, as Mr. Bagley puts it, "personal reasons". Buff wants to know what those "personal" reasons are. Hell, Brain-wad, they're PERSONAL! What a dolt!
I know for a fact he is a huge part of the "personal reason" many, many of BCPS employees have left-and his sidekick Trashy. No one with any character would want to work in a county that has to deal with that trash!

There are many in our school system who are well over the 30 year retirement plan. In these tough economic times it would be prudent to have many of them retire. Doing away with Instructional Coach positions would be a plus.

Buff just keeps showing his ass. According to the paper, at the last meeting on Friday, he stonewalled the passing of the 93 policies. He did NOT pre-submit his changes/suggestions to the superintendent as required, and the entire board spent too much time paying Buff the attention he thought he deserved. Shame on Armour. He should have cut Buff off at the knees. Only problem was - SACS was watching.
The BOE were supposed to have more training after the meeting. I heard the training person had to go back to Raleigh WITHOUT getting to do any training. Talk about wasting tax-payer money! I bet we paid a bunch of travel and accomodations - for NOTHING! I wish the MNH would investigate!

You have no clue what the hell you are talking about! The reason the lady was not going to do the SACS training was because the board had just found out about Mrs.Hunt being murdered. The lady from SACS did not feel it was good to procede with the training after such bad news. You are stupid and do not know anything about what is going on.
Please tell us how SWAT will defend having to consolidate schools in the upcoming school year? It is going to happen,and the board member who posted on Facebook that "no schools will close" will look like an idiot!

OK. On recommendation of Stellar, the board just hired Blair Propst, an attorney here in Burke, to be their top personnel guy. His wife is a teacher in the school system. Allegations are flying that Propst's father, the Mayor of Drexel, is a huge chum of Buff. Can anyone verify that? Did Richard stand at Drexel #1 and campaign for Buff back in 2007? Is this a Stellar-Buff attempt to undermine the new board majority?
When was Blair Propst's criminal background check done? Was his new hire paperwork complete on the night the board voted him in position?
Evergreen reviewed other area school districts and how many assistant or associate supers they employ. We only should have Stellar and save the money. Do not hire any other super. Why didn't Evergreen tell us how much in the hole financially they are like us too?

What happened to Winston Bagely?
Winston's contract was up. He will be demoted, not fired as the rumor flys into Burke Schools rumor mill.
Apparently the story says that Winston had no clue it was happening to him. If the job you are in is posted online and your contract was up, I would say you were at least thinking you may not have a job. Some people just believe what they hear at church, or Sains barber shop which is sad.
So was Winston's job performance poor? Is there an open position to demote him to? Are they adding more positions at the Central Office while consolidating schools?
Rumor says - he gets to keep the same salary and in essence there are now 2 Human Resource Directors, but he'll have some other official title... supposedly there were open positions in HR that were not filled so this created room for 2 head HR people....
If true, this could have saved 2 teaching positions when it looks like potential teacher layoffs will be numerous...
I just appalled that CO listed all these new jobs to expand CO, but it appears they do not care & are fine with laying off teachers just as long as CO has a "cabinet"
