Im not really surprised right here.I dont really know much about him.I really dont know if mr.burleson and the principal at draughn should have said this early that they would have a varsity football team.Every thought patton would be able to feild a team at this time last year but we all know that at about 2 before the first week of practice patton announced they would not have enough to feild a varsity team. There is only two ways I could see them having a varsity team. One would be if all the rising juniors that are in draughns district be made go to draughn and deny all transfer or draughn just have a varsity team only and no jv.either way draughn will probaly have a good number of underclassmen.Good luck to coach lambert and I hope they do get to have a varsity team and not have to go through the crap patton did.

People around here want to bash others instead of talk about something like this.I know who ray is as well.

who?

Has Oprah donated money to Obama's church? Just wondering.

"Meet the new board, same as the old board."

Scott Lambert as a head coach. The prophesy is being fulfilled. That only leaves Andy Hodges coming to DHS to coach basketball. Looks like Iron Mike Kenney is right in lock-step with Der Furer Tim.

Following Andy will be wife Kristie and Brother Chip. Then no one will want to leave EBHS because the dark cloud will have drifted west to Lovelady Road.

Rumors about lambert becoming head coach at draughn have been going around since last year at this time.

Lambert is most the valdese drexel people wanted to wanted

Anonymous said...

Correction on the last post.I mean to say Lambert is who most of the valdese-drexel community wanted to become the coach.

Yes! Oprah built the church.

Google is your friend. And it looks like she might have given money. She started attending in the 80's but abruptly stopped about 8 years ago.

I hope this answers your question.

I hope the people at draughn will give lambert a chance and be patient with him as he builds this program.

VERY MATURE

My 5 year old neice is more mature than some people on here. This was supposed to have been a thread to talk about the naming of the draughn football coach.I guess people would rather bash the board members. The past 2 school boards were just as bad too if u ask me.

Anonymous said...

I'm sure Scott Lambert is a great guy. Please give him a chance. Who would you prefer to have in that position?

Anonymous said...

Lou Holtz

I think lambert could do a good job.The main thing Lambert needs to is get a good staff who have good football knowledge and be willing to work hard in order to build this program from the ground up.Most of the athletes from east burke came from the valdese-drexel area and that should help them in the long run.I think in about 3 years draughn will be good in football. The Draughn community needs to have the patience and be willing to support him and his staff cause building a program takes time.

@11:45 I don't think any one is really bashing him. Just a place to talk football.

Believe me, we "babies" are just getting started. This new board is and will be under the greatest scrutiny in Burke's history. It took a Pearl Harbor to wake America up to the imperialism of Japan. It took a 9-11 to wake us up to the evil reality and intentionality of international terrorism. And yes, it has taken the election of The Four plus One to wake this county up to those who would threaten the stability and effectiveness of our school system.

"Whine?" I do not care what you call the revealing of truth or the exposure of stupidity. But this I do care about: Our students are not going to be short-changed by the Fab Five or their ilk. Not without a fight.

So whether it is through "Glen's" blog or by some other means, the assalt on education by this new majority and their disciples will not go unnoticed!

Why don't you start a thread about using class time for teachers to take online classes and working on their certification?

Anonymous said...

and then start one about teachers using their personal or family time to grade papers, make lessons, call parents, take CEU classes, etc.

Anonymous said...

Oh but I thought you used the kids to grade most of the assignments and even have the students teach the subjects during class so select teachers can study... as the kids say it's homework.....
No really I understand, since you have to do all that work after school then it's only fair to use the student's class time to work on your stuff.....

Why don't you reimburse us for the countless out of pocket expenses we contribute for YOUR child's education. Where do you think extra supplies come from when your child does not have paper, pencil, notebooks, or anything else required of them. "Not me", you say, "I provide all needed supplies for my child". Well, "Not me" I say, I do not use class time for my personal use. You cannot make the generalization you are making unless you are in EVERY classroom, EVERY day. FYI- even if you think you provide for your child, when he/she is out of paper for 2 weeks straight and he/she keeps forgetting to tell you, the teacher provides for your child. The school does not keep notebook paper laying around for forgetful children, but the teacher does.

I,m a sorry ass teacher because I don't buy my students shit. I didnt take these burke county redneck kids to raise.

Anonymous said...

No you did not take these children to raise but you are getting paid to educate them.

I doubt that 1:42 is a real teacher. He's probably just someone who likes to argue.

Tracey! This website is not about Oprah or Obama. READ! Just like you didnt read the kiterunner. Dumb ass!

Obviously the poster at 5:32 knows nothing about what goes on in the classroom. Every teacher I know spends a good number of hours every week on his or her students. Consider the amount of time it takes to grade a single set of papers for teachers who have ninety plus students. It takes longer to grade an assignment that students take to complete the work. Also, a huge amount of time is devoted to "outside" duties such as extracircular activities.

To 8:11pm. You might be surprised about what goes on in Burke County school classrooms. Not all teachers but there are some without mentioning names would be quite humbled at what is left on the BCPS computers.....

You may be right, but you may be bluffing. I think you are bluffing.

I hear that plans are already underway to scrub varsity football at Draughn this year. Also....the door may be open for Juniors to be given a choice to stay or go. This is much different from the discussion of a few weeks ago. Of course this will be a major letdown for the Valdese/Drexel community. So....who do we blame? David Burleson....Tim...Hodges/Cooper........Tracy.....Kite Runner? If I missed anyone...just post em up here.

Anonymous said...

Unless the school system wants a repeat of what we had a Patton which was getting more kids hurt than EB and FD combined they should not start with a first year varsity football team with limited senior participation. So why the push Mr. McKinney, Mr. Burleson and Mr. Wilkinson again?

Anonymous said...

If all of the eligible rising juniors come to Draughn, they can have varsity football. However, I doubt that that will happen. Another conference championship is at stake here. The rising juniors are not going to want to anchor a so-so football team when they can be a part of an outstanding team. Not this coming year.

Next year (2009-2010), there will be no "senior options". East Burke will have to field a team without Drexel, Valdese and RC kids - and without a Tyler Shatley.

Anonymous said...

Besides, why would a rising senior want to play pickup games anyway when they can be in a real conference.

Anonymous said...

To 04/16 1:42 pm post:
While Tyler Shatley is a great football player, wrestler and track star and a fine teen, raise by fine parents, one player does not a team make. Tyler will graduate from EBHS in 2009, so it's not as if he could play at Draughn during the 2009 season. There will be plenty of players that will remain @ EBHS from the Hildebran, Icard, Ray Childers and George Hildebrand communities. Maybe not on Tyler's level of play, but still none the less, the EB football can still be strong without the Valdese, Drexel and Rutherford College communties.
