School Board Shake Up?

Anonymous said...

Duuno bout DeHart going to Wa Young!!! Heard she would take an assistane principal job or retire before she would go there! Which I'm sure the staff at W A Young wouldn't want her to go there...they would rather keep Hawkins!

Anonymous said...

Burleson can move any system employee where he wants them as long as salary does not change in any way.He has gave this order.Principals move teachers from different grades in their respected schools from time to time so what is the difference of Burleson doing this?It was him and not the board. It is poor timing. If Mrs.Dehart feels that way then I guess we should say by to her to.It is a priveledge to work for the BCPS not a right!Hawkins and Dehart are to swap as well as Suddreth and Leonard.Do not know of others at this point.Again,Mrs Dehart has to follow orders or leave.I wish some of the employyee's would stage a walkout against the board as I have heard. Then they could get a lot of new faces.Try it see how it works.Stage it Buddy!

Superintendent David C. Burleson welcomes you to the Burke County Public School System and the system’s website. Mr. Burleson leads the 2,500 plus school system employees as a strong proponent of each student’s worth and as an innovator in exploring a variety of opportunities to reach each student’s potential. Working diligently with all staff, he sustains attention to the components of successful schools – curriculum, school organization, educational philosophies, instructional practices, family and community involvement. He recognizes all of the above as powerful tools in unleashing the power for student success.

A graduate of Appalachian State University with an EDS. in Administration, Mr. Burleson, an Avery County native, high school valedictorian and Magna Cum Laude honoree, came to Burke County in l982 where he began his career at Freedom High School as a math teacher and coach. He served as assistant principal of that school from l989 through 1991 until becoming the principal of what was then Oak Hill Junior High School. He returned to Freedom as principal in l992 and remained in this capacity until moving into the associate superintendent’s position in l996. Mr. Burleson became superintendent in 2000 and has been a pioneer in education from pre-k to grade twelve and beyond. Under his leadership, the school system recently was awarded the prestigious National Magna Award of Excellence for its pre-k mobile education on wheels. His unparalleled list of accomplishments include the following: helped develop the Burke County Public Schools Drug Policy, developed the first PTO at Freedom High School, created summer camps for students, procured millions of dollars in grant monies to address student need/creative programming, and realized alternative educational programs for those who need a different approach to education. Also, during Mr. Burleson’s tenure as superintendent, the county has experienced the lowest drop-out rate in the public school system’s history.

Professionally, he has received local, regional and state Principal of the Year Awards, Burke County Educational Office Personnel Administrator of the Year Awards for four years, 2001 North Carolina Middle School Association Superintendent of the Year Award as well as acknowledgement for several published articles and innovative presentations.

Very active in church and in community affairs, David has a litany of volunteer and leadership accolades including church member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and active participant in the Morganton Rotary Club, Tar Heel Association of Principals, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Burke County Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, the North Carolina Standards Board as well as serving on several local community boards and committees for a better Burke County. He has a broad spectrum of other interests which mainly involve being a Civil War enthusiast and spending time with his wife, Beth and two children, Heather and Shannon.

To my knowledge DeHart is not going to WA Young she is going to Burke Alternative West and Mr. Corley will be moving to WA Young. Has anyone heard this??? Supposedly it is supposed to be printed in the newspaper tomorrow....but I also though we would know who took the EC and HR positions by now considering they were supposed to start work by August 1st....I guess its a secret...shhhhhhhhhhh

Anonymous said...

Did Dr.Dehart make some back door deal with David Burleson at the last minute to get his wife to the alternative school?I know she would turn it around.Ive heard Mr. Corely is not a good leader Mr Murray never was either.Should Corely be sent somewhere because Mrs.Dehart refuses to go? The HC director is not from around here, and the EC director is already in the system. Now the board can focus on an Attorney, and Technology Director.

Regarding principal shake-ups...

Burleson may have pulled the trigger, but I'm betting certain board members loaded the gun.

Who knows? The plot may have developed during the Team Meeting held at Alison's Restaurant the day of Mr. Hastings' funeral. The Chair, the Vice, and Barnard met there for a late lunch. I'm told she had her notepad (I guess to record the minutes).

Anonymous said...

Ray, even though you are vacationing in the Bahamas, could you please remove the blog post "500 people read this blog"? It is very irritating.

Anonymous said...

To the 8:09 blogger. Minutes would not need to be recorded unless a majority was there.Three board members are ok, but four make it a buisness meeting.Besides the old regime was saw doing this many times throughout their tenures.Interesting you keep tabs on where other board members are and where they eat. This must be Buddy bitching because he is not in power or in the loop any more.Buddy ask Rob if he will let you eat with him to make you feel more important.Mr.Burleson had better be prepared to tell everyone why he switched principals because it rests on his shoulders. He did it himself and the board is out of this one.If the board had been involved I am sure it would have been done early this summer and there would be more moved than was at this juncture.I think this board has been nice enough it is time to lay the hammer down.Oh Buddy by the way, spent any time on the phone with lawyers recently, lets say for hours?

Why was Rob Hairfield let go from his job as a probation officer? I hear he forged a judge's signature.
Why could he not keep a job?

If Bernard knows so much and has 2 /BS degrees; (those initials are ironic!) why does he not hold down a job?

It's odd that two people that act like they know everything about running a business can't seem to keep a job. I think BCS's are in some serious dodo!

THANK YOU

Anonymous said...

Everybody knows that Mr. Burleson has the final word on whether a principal is moved or not but he’s had a lot of “requests” from the board and he’s just trying to save his job right now and doesn’t care what’s best for the students!

Anonymous said...

obviously he doesn't care whats best for anyone...he has proven that!! He is supposedly retiring in December who cares what the board wants....did they listen to everones side about issues or just there select few??? BCPS has become so damn political in the past 10 years!!!

WE GIVE UP. HOW MANY?

PLEASE GIVE US SPECIFIC EXAMPLES.

THAT'S RUMORS WHICH HAVE COME TRUE. PLURAL.

Anonymous said...

I'll Start.

1. Rick Sherrill as Associate Super
2. Mike Kenny getting DHS

If you look back over this site you will seen the BUFFOONS said Rick WOULD BE the super. not always exactly right, just like the map and other things, like buffs marriage or scandals with tracys fat (extremely fat) ass

1. Rick Sherrill as Associate Super
2. Mike Kenny getting DHS

Anonymous said...

Rick may not be the in charge man yet, but like I said before, David is just trying to save his job right now. As far as him retiring, I hadn’t heard that one yet.

Anonymous said...

I have heard he is retiring...heck why not contract up, Shannon's a senior, and he will not have to deal with shit from the board. I don't blame him....and I heard it from an extremely reliable source!

Anonymous said...

This county is full of rednecks who use religion as a crutch to justify their lack of knowledge...most were dropouts or dont see a reason for higher education because they didnt go to college....They are the ones who celebrate and scream at a high school graduation...big deal....go biggie size my fries .....I hope he does retire so he does not have to put up with the school bored

Anonymous said...

3. Firing of the Board Attorney.

There has been more. Go look them up yourself.

And get your head out of the sand. This board is very transparent.

Man, our schools are in deep do.

1/ego maniac who has a vendeta against principals and teachers or anyone with more education than HIM. (Poor little Tim; were you picked on in school by your teachers because you were a dumb ass?)

This is the majority that is running our school board. I'm glad my children are out of school, but I feel extremely concerned for the ones still to go through the system.

I HAVE TWO WITNESSES WHO WILL TESTIFY IF SUBPOENAED, BUT THERE WILL BE NO NEED FOR TESTIMONY BECAUSE NO LAW WAS BROKEN. THE POINT IS LITTLE MEETINGS AMONG MEMBERS OF THE MAJORITY TAKE PLACE REGULARLY. MANY PEOPLE NOTICE AND ARE KEEPING TABS. THAT GOES FOR ALLISON'S FAMILY RESTAURANT, TRI-COUNTY GRILL, J&S CAFETERIA, PATTON HIGH SCHOOL AND OTHER REGULAR GATHERING HOLES. WE KNOW PLANNING GOES ON PRIOR TO EACH SCHEDULED MEETING OF THE FULL BOARD. AGAIN, IF LESS THAN FOUR SHOW UP, IT'S NOT ILLEGAL, BUT TELLING NONETHELESS.

Or better still, YOU go away.

3 - why all the accolades for Rick Sherrill who is a known fornicator?

last paragraph says, he's very active in community "affairs"

Superintendent David C. Burleson welcomes you to the Burke County Public School System and the system’s website. Anonymous said...

That bio is all well and good but if you have a man who will not stand up for what is right then it all means nothing. David has no backbone and is not willing to stand up to the school board. Does he really think doing everything they ask is going to save his job? He needs to get his head out of the sand!

Anonymous said...

David moved these principals all except todd suddreth and jack leonard by himself.Buddy can tell people all he wants that David's back was against the wall on these issues but we know the truth. The power rests solely in David's hands to make such moves and he needs to man up and take responsibility for his actions. It is going to come out.Mrs.Dehart and David did some back door dancing to get this done and we can assume why.He thinks Danny boy Dehart can get him three strong candidates in the 2009 school board election.Wrong answer.Dan probably will not be the head of the party much longer. And why he screwed a good principal like Larry Putnamn is beyond me? David face your demons and not the board, but your actions. The public is starting to wander are you an effective leader despite your battles with the board. An ineffective leader is no use to anyone.Even the rich and high society crowd you have catered to so long are starting to get tired of you.You better start getting ready to have to do something unique and innovative. What you may ask?
TELL THE TRUTH!

Anonymous said...

I think David has gotten so accustomed to lying it’s second nature now and he doesn’t know how to tell the truth or if he does he’s scared he might get caught in one of his lies. As for the principal moves, it’s absurd. You have principals that needed to stay where they were and were doing a great job and then ones that need to be moved who are “buddies” of some of the board so they get to stay where they are. That’s really putting our children first.

Anonymous said...

If the principles were fine where they were then why are all of the fab 5 idiots screaming for change and then crying when they get it? Make up your minds what it is that you want.

Anonymous said...

9:45am,
They are principals. You can remember the spelling because the principal is your PAL. (Just a little hint so you won't look like an idiot when you're calling other people idiots).
Best Wishes-

Anonymous said...

The only ones I know that are buddies of the board is Shanda Mcfarlin which can not be trusted! The board has nothing to do with principal changes. They can suggest, but it is the one power that Burleson has above the board. The reason all these principals got moved is because Mrs.Dehart refused to go to WA Young.Im sure she has moved teachers from different grades before. So she can dictate where she will or will not go?No Burleson thinks Dr. Dehart can help him in the future.I hope David is prepared to explain his actions to the people.Buddy Armour is trying to tell people David had to do this.No he did not and the board could not have done shit. They can refuse to hire a certain recommendation of David's.People in Burke County need to wake up to the fact that David is cutthroat and will serve only himself.

Anonymous said...

DeHart is the only principal left in the county with tenure all others sign a contract so she thinks she is someone and can tell David where to put her. My problem lies in the post

"And why he screwed a good principal like Larry Putnamn is beyond me?"

How can you say Larry got screwed by moving to WAYE? What is wrong with WA Young? Larry is extremely happy with the move thank you very much! Why does everyone in this county have an issue with W.A. Young Elementary School?

Anonymous said...

to 2:23 pm...

ref: "Shanda Mcfarlin which..."

gee, are you that stupid?

probably, seeing as how you spelled principal, principle.

Anonymous said...

I have no problem with WA Young as a school.Part of its stupid location thanks to Randall Brackett, and the puppet board members he had then, are a big reason this school has a hard time finding an identity.Larry may be happy there and I am glad if he is but the only place he should have been moved was to his alma mater Freedom and Brian Oliver should have been sent to Chesterfield. He like Larry was from that community.Ok now we get to Daryl Corely.I would not know him from Adam, bit can tell you he did not do well at The alternative school and to reward him with a bigger one like Chesterfield was stupid. It is deja vue with the Robert Murray incidents.Screw up at one school get a bigger one.Mrs Dehart will turn the Alternative school around but the whole thing reaks.David Burleson could have done this to show that the voters had better pick him three candidates he likes in the next school board race or he can do this again.David is wanting the public to kiss his rear and make sure he is top dog in the future. It is time for him to go! I say maybe just maybe 1500 people would be truly upset if he left and that is probably a large number. He has been Buddy Armours pal to long and Buddy is dead meat.He has maggots crawling all over him.He may be put in broughton if the attorney's fees are brought up soon about the district map. There is more there than meets the eye.Sam Aycock may have to answer some questions as well!

What’s going on with the principal moves in the western part of the county with W.A. Young, Walter Johnson, Chesterfield? Are they trying to clean house or what? Although they left Table Rock and Freedom alone and they needed change more than the other schools. Why fix what’s not broken. They really had it for WJMS as they moved Mr. Leonard and Mrs. Garrison. Although if you look at that school record as far as scores and growth they should have left that school alone. Once again, that's really what's best for the students!

Anonymous said...

Mrs.Garrison is a s stuck up a person as I have ever seen.If mRs Colaw was moved you all would claim that Barnard was getting back at her.If Oliver was moved you would claim he was being retaliated against for having a hand in getting rid of a former employee. This was pure David Burleson you can not spin it any other way.He has the sole power to move principals and only if salary is changed must the board vote on it. So all of you morons who keep claiming this is ruining your childs education call David and ask him why he did it.He will say this is what I feel needed to be done.Todd Suddreth should have gotten Ray Childers when Shane Mace got it but we coul not make ole rita mad could we David?I hear Bob Accord made a boo boo when he first hired rita's other daughter in law, then told her she could not have it,hired another woman, then let that woman go to make place for rita's in law.David supports the family system does he not?

Anonymous said...

Someone please tell the Superintendent that his services are no longer needed or useful.Someone please tell Mr.Armour that he has about one year left if he can make it.It is kind of funny that people hear that Artie Logan will run again in the central district. If she thinks they can save David Burleson I hate it for her or any group who believes such.He sure isnt getting rave reviews from the community now either.

Also could someone post the schools with changes.

Yeal? Read the editorial in today's paper from Robbie Boy. You know, Mr. Hairfield, you need to go home and take a bath and shut the crap up.

While it is admirable that so many parents support Mrs. Hawkins, there is another side to this debate. Parents see only the public persona of a principal, while we,the staff, see another side of her altogether. We were pretty much miserable with the leadership of this principal, and moral is at an all-time low. That makes for a very poor work environment. And we are directly responsible for test scores, not the principal. Time for a change!! You got that right. Thank you David.

I've got some questions for those who are displeased with the way the current school board members are doing their job -- abusing their power for personal interest or vendettas. What can we do about it? Someone said to me, "Well, just don't vote for them the next time they come up for election." But it's not that simple, is it? Who would want to run against them? We've seen what happens to BCPS employees who have had disparaging opinions of them, or have objected to their decision-making. Witch hunt, anyone? So if no one opposes them, won't they be re-elected with ease? Secondly, not all school board members are up for re-election at the same time, are they? So if we can get some good apples voted onto the school board at the next election, they'd get picked apart by the crows still there. I wouldn't blame David Burleson and the one or two old regime school board members for leaving, considering how miserable they must be to work with people who only work against you, but I really feel sorry for those teachers, administrators, and board members when they go because I don't think there will be anyone else on the board who has the experience or really understands what it takes for a school system to run effectively or who will care for the students and staff and REALLY look after their best interests. Who will fill their shoes? Another Buff/Norman pawn?

There really needs to be a "shake up" on the school board to shake some of the nuts from the tree, but I just don't have much optimism for the future of BCPS. With the exodus of so many highly-qualified and experienced teachers and staff to other counties, more will probably leave when they can. Then I really feel sorry for the teachers and students who can't pack up and move to another county. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

REF: So if no one opposes them, won't they be re-elected with ease?

THE ANSWER IS "YES, WE WILL"

NOW, HAVE A GOOD NIGHT.

hairfield,

Why do you act like a jerk? The editorial you wrote in the paper today was so hateful. You are a joke as a member of the School Board and are considered a complete asshole by the majority of Burke County Citizens. At least the ones with an education. You always seem to have a pissed off look on your face. When you go to speak at the board meetings, you are always mad, shaking and pushing your microphone away from your dirty mouth. Thats right. Even when you push the microphone aside, we can still hear your dirty, cussing comments about other board members. I would be so proud of myself. You are centainly a CLASS ACT. You don't care about the schools or the children. All you care about is showing your ignorance and your ass!

To the previous blogger: Well put! How in the world this man got elected is beyond me.....he has no education, worked as a mechanist at an axle plant. WOW! What experience can you possible provide the students and faculty of BCPS. You have no personality, no education, no morals, definitely not a public speaker, and you think you have something to offer this county? You, Mr. Hairfield need to go back to work as a blue collar worker where you can be respected. Just remember to shower after work. It makes a nicer emvironment for everyone that has to work with you! AND PLEASE DO SOMETHING CONSTRUCTIVE EXCEPT WRITING....YOU SUCK AT IT!

I believe Rob has a degree from Gardner Webb, the same or close to what Mr.Armour has.Check that out.Second are you upset he did not defend David?Come on people,David is not a dam saint! You may hate Rob,but at least he has the balls to tell you what he thinks. So should he sit by and let David tell all the public what he wants them to hear. The last 20 years has been catering to the superintendents but not any more. Can you tell me why David has not got out of dodge?I had no use for Scott Smith,Steve Demiter but at least they got other jobs.David can not seem to get to the final interviews. And speaking of having an education.at one time a few years ago David was the least qualified superintendent on paper.I would check to see what all board members education are if it concerns you that much.I know five of them have one.And it does not matter because they were elected.

Anonymous said...

It bothers the idiots on this blog that some people with education support this board.David Burleson needs to go, and you people who have gotten your way with him need to start licking other peoples rears. Its time for a change! Its hard to keep bashing the board members who do not have education when more than half the citizens of Burke County do not.It also is hard to bash the board, when most people do not vote at all.I promise you when large turnout shows up at school board elections, turnover will happen.Well the people who were supposed to have education sure acted stupid so thank them for the debacle you believe you are in. Burke County Schools has never been about the children, and probably never will!

a few comments to think about:

I agree with WA Young teacher, something had to give there. When you get to the point of telling teachers that they cannot sit down even though they work with small children, reading people's emails, and brow beating your staff at every turn, you need to think about a career change, maybe Belks is hiring. I hope Mt. View will stand strong and not take that junk.

About Larry Putnam, hope he can pull WA Young back together, but he'll have to be a little more involved than he was at Chesterfield.

By the way, when are they ever going to work on Chesterfield and quick letting it be the "red-headed Stepchild of Burke County?"

As far as the school board, there are a lot of people complaining about how terrible the new board is and how unqualified these folks are and how could they possibly be elected? Well, guess what, if the last board hadn't screwed up so badly they might have been reelected. Now everyone is left to decide whether the medicine (new school board) is better or worse than the disease (rubber-stamping school board).

Anonymous said...

As I have said before... the new board is much worse... They are unqualified, childish and unconcerned about education in the county. I have watched them at different events conduct themselves in a very unprofessional manner and act like they had other things to do or places to be. Hairfield needs to stop writting letters, Tracy needs to stop stirring shit and Buff needs to listen to what the public has been trying to tell them. I do not know who will run against them, but I pray they are qualified and have some damn sense.

I am not a big fan of Rob’s but I will give him this much. He’s right on it when he says that David has the final decision and doesn’t have to get board approval for these principal transfers. Anybody have a clue as to why he would wait so long to complete these transfers? How about scared of losing more good employees to surrounding counties. Although, it’s going to happen if the citizens of Burke County don’t stand up to him. I do however think the board has been somewhat persuasive on at least of couple of the moves. David thinks appeasing them is going to help his job situation out when his contract is up. It may be worth the county’s money to buy him out and move him out. I think the people are finally seeing what a “true” leader he is and what a joke he is making Burke County out to be. Somebody ask David about how much money he spent on sending the principal and AP at WJMS to a work shop in Atlanta in July for a program that was to be implemented at that school. He knew that he was moving them before they went. The new principal should have been sent to that. What good is it doing WJMS now? This is just one of the many examples of the fine leadership we are receiving from Mr. Burleson!

Anonymous said...

David doesn’t need to go anywhere right now. He needs to stay and let the voices of parents, teachers and administrators in the county be heard. He needs to want to stay in his office because of the poor leader and the embarrassment he is to the county. Let him know we don’t want to see him at our children’s schools and when you see him out remind him exactly what his job is because he’s not doing it!

REF: "How in the world this man got elected is beyond me"

DUHH...HE GOT THE VOTES. THAT'S HOW. HOW STUPID ARE YOU ?

Anonymous said...

Just a comment....not every teacher at W.A. Young was unhappy with Mrs. Hawkins. I agree some things done were not professional, but some things that were said or done were because teachers were NOT doing their job like they should be. So every side needs to be listened to....it wasn't as bad as some people tried to make it!

Anonymous said...

David Burleson does need to stay because he seems to be the last bastion of hope for our county. Sure, he's human and I don't expect him to make everyone happy, or always make decisions that everyone is expected to understand. Sounds like 6:01 has some hateful delusioned grudge against him for reasons other than the job he is doing for BCPS. Ask anyone who's known Burleson and who's worked with Burleson (not against him) and you'll get the same answer: he's got the teachers and students best interests at heart. So what's really the problem? Give some specific facts or go away.

Anonymous said...

It’s the same at all schools. If you have one or two bad apples, they’re the ones who are going to cause trouble. They might not like the way administration handles situations and call them “unprofessional” but if they would actually work and do what they should be doing instead of always stirring things up all the time there wouldn’t be these sorts of problems going on. And it’s a really sad situation that David Burleson only seems to hear the bad. You have that small percentage or in some cases one person who can go to David and he bows down. Boy isn’t that a way to run a school system.

Anonymous said...

Please, everyone go out and ask people that have worked “with” David Burleson what kind of person he is. Years ago I would have to agree that he had the best interest of the children at heart but he has gotten too far into the political game and playing people against people. He’s also told far too many lies that he can’t even keep up with them anymore. He can talk the talk but he’s not walking the walk. Yes, Mr. Burleson is a very eloquent speaker and could talk his way out of a paper bag but all of inconsistencies will catch up with him and it looks like sooner than later. So don’t call me delusional, look in the mirror.

Anonymous said...

8:10 - what lies has he told? You seem to keep spouting that out, and other than the "investigation" at EBHS, you've given no examples.

What lies please?

I have worked WITH David and only saw him make decisions for the good of the whole - which is what a good leader does.

Enlighten me please - no propaganda this time, just facts.

Anonymous said...

Sorry I can't be as specific as you want and give you the examples you want because I would like to keep my job. I will just say for the last time that employees have been lied to by Burleson and you can believe it or not. I know the truth, just thought I’d shed some light on it for those individuals out there who seem to think David is a saint. Take it or leave it. It's what's done with the rest of the info on this site.

if the other board members do not speak out, are we to assume they are supportive & in favor of mr. burleson principal moves ?

11:13 – Who cares? and 11:16 – That’s a very good question, maybe Tracy will answer it for us!

8:26 - you can't give examples because there are none. Sounds like you're a scorned employee. Why don't you leave Burke if you're so unhappy? Benefits transfer. Toxic work environments are often directly related to the employee.

"QUESTION: is mr hairfield the official spokesperson for the school board?"

ANSWER: Now, that depends. I feel comfortable that he does NOT speak for TWO board members.

But does he speak for the Majority?
Probably.

AGREED. HE PROBABLY 'DOES' SPEAK FOR THE MAJORITY...&, HE'S AN ELECTED OFFICIAL...ELECTED, LIKE IN MOST VOTES.

so, in other words...ha, ha, hee, hee...HAR, HAR, HAR !!!!!!!

More hee.. hee's and ha..ha's... wow that really hurts. The most votes... yeah, yeah we know... the voters screwed up... and we are all paying for it... whatever. The topic was the principal shake up. Why is it that no one backs up what they say on this blog. Just Bull shit and make empty comments. Lets get back to the topics. I do not care much for Hairfield (actucally think he is an idiot), and since the blame will all fall on Burleson about the moves... which some think are good and others bad... I only question why if he has this power that he did not just move who he wanted into Draughn instead of the other moves? Or maybe there was no motives behind this and he is just doing his job. Maybe to avoid problems transfers were the best way. But as for it being last minute... I am pretty sure that some of these people involved knew about them long before now. Can I prove it... "no". But I knew of one a month ago. So what?...

HE'S TALKING ABOUT THE PRINCIPAL MOVES, IN CASE YOU DIDN'T KNOW.

First to the 7:01pm blogger: If Hairfield graduated from Gardner Webb, why in the piss was he working at Dana making truck axles? This man is so full of it......would you work in a plant with a degree from GW? Get real? I would have to see it to believe it, then it would be really hard to digest that one. He even talks like a moron. He sure doesn't sound educated, speak like an educated person or even better look like one....why don't you ask him about his education? Maybe at the next meeting or better yet, Mr Hairfield, why don't you bring us your little certificate so we can all see what you education really is???????????

Anonymous said...

in every school or any place of employment there are always a few bad apples, HOWEVER, i know a large number of folks at WA Young and when so many of them began to complain about conditions, there is a problem. where there is smoke, there is usually a fire. i heard the former principal said something to the effect of - i went there to improve test scores, not to win a popularity contest. Fine, however, a truly effective leader can make the needed changes and have the support of most of the staff. If not, then i question was it effective leadership that helped improve test scores, or just good old-fashioned teaching.

Has Brian Oliver ever stayed at the school the entire day?

He runs all his errands on school time. He gets his allergy shots and anything else he needs to do.

He should stay at the school and stop the smoking and drugs that have became a large problem during his stay.
