David Burleson has been a leech on this system for years, hiring unqualified people, using the buddy system, and setting himself up for awards by using the former school board as his personal henchmen. the truth is he should have been fired for covering up the East Burke scandal along with all who were a part of it.

David Burleson - he's not what he appears to be. He's probably one of the most polished politicians I have ever seen in action. He is a great speaker, and he means well. I wonder if he wishes he could break away from the Buddy System, but he's too far entrenched to break free.

As a former student of Burke County Schools who has since moved away from Burke County and spoken to countless others from other school systems, Mr. Burleson works harder, longer, and better than most other superintendents in the state. He strives to always do what will be to the greatest benefit of Burke County's children, regardless of personal gain. FYI, I know that while he appreciates being named Man of the Year, he does not work to gain accolade. He simply works as hard as he does because he genuinely wishes to make a difference in this world. And to those of you who believe he is over paid, please tell me how much you believe someone who works, literally, from 6:30 AM until 10 pm every night should be paid. Many who work far less than him make far more. Mr. Burleson comes from a lower-middle class family with core American values. Appreciate that. I thought the standing ovation at the '08-'09 convocation at Freedom was an eye opener. I'm glad to see DB has the support of the faculty and staff.
