Ms. Norman did a good job telling a master teacher where to get off. She had to muster her entire four years at Freedom to construct that tallented comeback!
My next-favorite comment was from King Buff who told a certified and respected educator as she approached the podium (and I'm paraphrasing), "If your comments are only about board bashing, we'll not be hearing them." Talk about stepping on the First Amendment!
It was OK for Buff and his trolls (including Eddie The Jerk Grindstaff) to call the then-sitting board liars, but truly educated people cannot criticize the All-Powerful Oz... er Tim.
Buff claims his Board "personnel committee" is not designed to micromanage but to look into how we can improve the morale of our employees and therefore improve education for our students. He, Norman and the other new board memebers are very concerned about teacher morale you see. I felt their true concern when I heard Norman tell a wonderful teacher and parent to basically "go back to your classroom and shut up" (paraphrase)and when I heard Buff tell another well respected educator he didn't want to hear anymore board bashing, before she even had a chance to speak. I think their true motto "shut your mouth unless you agree with us" is going do work well! Insult your best employees, refuse to listen to experienced professionals, refuse to allow "Board Bashing" unless it is bashing the old board, accuse well respected honest people of...well you get my drift. My morale is rising by the minute. I can't imagine how "good" I'll feel once it really sinks in that these people can actually go through my personnel records.
I'm thinking that if teachers and principals openly object to King Buff's rule, the threat of rifling through personnel files will always be there. We should help a couple of Board members who want to restrict a board member's access to those files by 1) requiring notification of those employees so they will have an opportunity to be present when their file is being inspected, 2) requiring a pre-stated REASON for the inspection, and 3)requiring a log to be kept indicating when and by whom employee files were examined.
I can think of NO GOOD reason for a board member to have free access to personnel files. Intimidation is all that comes to mind! Just because they are elected by the public and take an oath to uphold the law doesn't mean they are trustworthy -especially to those who did NOT vote for them! Examples? George Bush, Jim Black, Richard Nixon, Tracy, Tim...
The only reasaon for these school board members to rummage through employees' personnel files is to gather information illegally-they have done it before. Seems like they would clean up their own messes divorce, affairs, children's drug abuse, court dates-before they begin on another witch hunt. What loseers~
It seems that Ms.Norman is jsut as hypocrytical as ever. Since she is so concerned about the morals and law abiding actions of the teachers of Burke County, perhaps she will explain why she has failed to act on teacher at EBHS getting a student pregnant and NOTHING has been said or done about it. Perhaps because this teacher's mother is one of her good friends. That's par for her!!!!
Mr. Buffs "personnel committee" might be tring to take the job away from the "Personnel Director" who has done more for the recruitment and retention of educators in this school system than you will ever know. Mr. Demiter just remember that if Mr. Buff asks if you want paper or plastic. I hear Ms. Norman has plenty of hands on experiance, after all she is his best bagger.

To the above comments about personnel files. Maybe they look to see what Administration slides in and out of them.They have been caught doing it before and the State would break there backs if they caught them. This Administration thinks it will rally people to defend them. Its to bad most people in surrounding counties found out what liars they are when it came to Patton not having a varsity football team.One school board lawyer in a nearby system, said that this county does not know what Raliegh really thinks of this Administration.
What's this about a teacher at EB getting a student pregnant? That is a CRIME! The teacher should be charged with statutory rape and go to jail. Has this incident been investigated? Surely Tracy Norman and/or the school board doesn't have the power to make something like this go away.
